Verse of the Day 1/1

1 Peter 5:10  And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.   Amplified Bible (AMP)

For many of you, 2012 was a difficult year.  You may have experienced loss, hardship, and/or illness.  For some, it may continue.  But as we head into the New Year one of the best things that we can have is hope.  As Christians our hope is in Jesus Christ.

Peter knew something of all of these things.  His personal failures were well known, but he did not let it keep him down.  He didn't focus on the past but looked ahead.  As the Lord established, grounded, strengthened and settled Peter through His imparted grace and blessing.  May He do so for you as you head into the New Year.

J.R. Miller writes, "You have not passed this way before. There will be both sorrows and joys, both failures and successes. You cannot predict your future experiences. You cannot see the next step before your feet. Yet Jehovah-Jireh calls you to trust Him calmly. He bids you put away all anxieties and foreboding, because the Lord will provide!"

2013 is still uncharted territory, but knowing that God has called you to His eternal glory, strengthen and establish you in your faith this coming year.

"You have not passed this way before!" Joshua 3:4

In Christ,
Mike

9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
