Verse of the Day 12/11

Psalm 136:23  To Him Who [earnestly] remembered us in our low estate and imprinted us [on His heart], for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;  Amplified Bible (AMP)

When I read today's verse in the Amplified Bible, that word "earnestly" brought my mind to John 3:16 and "for God so loved the world and brought more meaning to the little word "so".  That is how "earnestly" He remembered us.  Jesus came to the world at a time when the world needed Him.  It was in a bad place.

Think of the "estate" of the world, of Bethlehem at that time.  Some were on a pilgrimage back to their hometown for a census.  Others were going about their business with no thought beyond the here and now.  Others were hurting and in deep despair.  The world isn't much different in those respects today.

This time of the year we are preparing to celebrate His coming.  People are making their wish lists for what their heart desires.  All too often they don't realize what they really need, God's mercy and loving-kindness.  It is a gift that is right there to be received.

Pastor James Smith wrote:
"God's mercy . . .
began with us of its own accord,
came to us unsought and unsolicited,
raised us from our low estate,
has heaped favors upon us,
will not leave us now--but will follow us all the days of our life,
will comfort us . . .
in all our tribulations,
against all our sorrows, and
make us a match for all our troubles!

God's mercy will crown us at last!
Mercy will accompany us to the dark valley, and through it.
Mercy will conduct us to the Jordan, and over it.
Mercy will lead us up into the holy city that has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Mercy will place a crown of pure gold, or of sparkling glory, upon our heads, that we may wear it to its honor forever and ever!"

If you are down, in low estate, feeling trampled, run over, call on Him to rescue you, to "make us a match for all our troubles" , and realize that His love never quits.  He has "imprinted us" on His heart.

In Christ,
Mike

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  NIV

23-26 God remembered us when we were down,
    His love never quits.
Rescued us from the trampling boot,
    His love never quits.
Takes care of everyone in time of need.
    His love never quits.
Thank God, who did it all!
    His love never quits!
