Verse of the Day 12/3

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].   Amplified Bible (AMP)

Today's verse is one of the most beloved verses of the Christmas season.  Written by the prophet Isaiah hundreds of years before His birth it tells of the virgin birth and what it would mean to the nation and to Christians through the ages.  It pointed to the coming of the Messiah, the Redeemer, a time when God would come near.

Jesus did come near, He was born, He lived, He served, He healed, He redeemed His own, He died and was buried and rose again, and He lives, eternally.  He lives today and is in our hearts and minds.  These thoughts bring me to the last verse of Matthews gospel where we read - " And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."Matthew 28:20 b New Living Translation (NLT) .  Pastor Greg Laurie writes, "the message of Christmas means this:  you will never be alone in life again".

 God is with us, Jesus lives ....

I Serve a Risen Savior

I serve a risen Savior
  He's in the world today.
I know that He is living,
  Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
  I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
  He's always near.

 In all the world around me
  I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary,
  I never will despair;
I know that He is leading,
  Through all the stormy blast;
The day of His appearing
  Will come at last.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
  Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
  To Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him,
  The Help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
  So good and kind.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart.

Blessings,
Mike

Isaiah 7:13-15
New Living Translation (NLT)
13 Then Isaiah said, "Listen well, you royal family of David! Isn't it enough to exhaust human patience? Must you exhaust the patience of my God as well? 14 All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin[a] will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means 'God is with us'). 15 By the time this child is old enough to choose what is right and reject what is wrong, he will be eating yogurt[b] and honey.
