Verse of the Day 12/4

Hebrews 13:5   Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you    Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Yesterday we considered what Emmanuel, God is with us means to us.  Our Savior, the Messiah lives, He is with us, He lives in us.  Today's verse encourages and comforts us in knowing that through thick and thin He will never leave us.

In this season there will be a lot of gift giving .  You'll hear the familiar slogans that "diamonds are forever" and of gifts that keep on giving.  You'll see the advertisements for cars to diamonds to simple cards.  Cars will age and break down.  Diamonds won't last forever, you won't be able to "take them with you".  Only His gift truly remains.  It doesn't run out it doesn't give up

I'm reminded of the worship song that we often sing in church -

One Thing Remains
 (Jesus Culture)
Your love never fails
It never gives up
It never runs out on me

Because on and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelmes and satisfies my soul
And i'll never, ever, have to be afraid

One thing remains

In death
In life
I'm confident and covered by the Power of Your great love

Whatever you may face today, may you feel His presence and that you are "covered by the power" of His great love.

Blessings,
Mike

Hebrews 13:4-6

The Message (MSG)

Jesus Doesn't Change

13 1-4 Stay on good terms with each other, held together by love. Be ready with a meal or a bed when it's needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it! Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them. Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you. Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual and illicit sex.
5-6 Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, "I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you," we can boldly quote,
God is there, ready to help;
I'm fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?
