Verse of the Day 7/1

John 14:16   And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[a] to be with you forever, English Standard Version (ESV)

Our family has been enjoying some time at the beach this week.  The hopes are for blue skies, bright sunshine and fairly call seas ( we do enjoy some waves.)  It is similar to what we hope for in life, speaking in nautical terms – smooth sailing.

We all know that life won't always, and for some, may seldom seem that way.  It is for those times and all times that today's verse is intended.  When our hearts are troubled, when life is not smooth sailing or calm seas , but turbulence, God sends us our Helper, the Comforter to come alongside.  It is a promise for today and forever.

I'm reminded of the old hymn Blessed Quietness that reminds us of that assurance.

Blessed quietness, holy quietness,
Blest assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea, *Jesus speaks to me, [*He speaks peace to me,]
And the billows cease to roll.

Whether you look out to blue skies and calm seas or perhaps some storm waves, may the Helper come along and speak peace to you that the billows in our lives will cease to roll.

Blessings,
Mike

John 14:15-17The Message (MSG)

The Spirit of Truth

15-17 "If you love me, show it by doing what I've told you. I will talk to the Father, and he'll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can't take him in because it doesn't have eyes to see him, doesn't know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!
