Verse of the Day 8/5

1 Corinthians 1:8-9  He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; you were called by Him into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

I began my devotions this morning by reading Psalm 145:18 which tells us that the Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth.  The Lord is not afraid if we are honest to Him about our feelings, our longings and yes our disappointments.  The verses in 1 Corinthians remind us that God is faithful, that  He will strengthen you but you need to  call, you need to pray, you need to trust and rely on Him.

The world around  us tells us that we "believe in a god who doesn't care who lives way up there".  They are wrong.  God cares, He is near and He hears our cry.  He has called us to be His own and we have to believe that He has a plan for us and that He will finish the project even though at the moment  it may seem like we are in disrepair, like an old house.

He will strengthen and you will  be blameless.  Think about that.  There is a song out today that states that in Christ you are "flawless"  (MercyMe).  One  day your old house will be restored to beyond its original state to the state of perfection that He has for you.  As The Message states in verse 7, "you've got it all" all of His gifts at your fingertips.  Won't you call out and reach out to Him?

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus     (Cry Out to Jesus - Third Day)

When it feels like the wheels are coming off, cry out, call out to Jesus, He'll  be right alongside "to keep you steady and on track" (The Message). Never forget that.

1 Corinthians 1:4-9The Message (MSG)

4-6 Every time I think of you—and I think of you often!—I thank God for your lives of free and open access to God, given by Jesus. There's no end to what has happened in you—it's beyond speech, beyond knowledge. The evidence of Christ has been clearly verified in your lives.

7-9 Just think—you don't need a thing, you've got it all! All God's gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.
