Verse of the Day 2/10

Verse of the Day 2/10

Mark 1:35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.

English Standard Version (ESV)

For me, there is something special about being up early, often before the dawn, to get away and find a secluded place to be with God, to pray, to spend time in His Word and prepare for the day.  The location may change, it may be my favorite living room recliner, it may be on a hunting stand with my Bible pulled up on my iPhone, it may be in a secluded corner of a hospital waiting room at 5:30 with no one else around.  It is a good way to prepare for the day, no matter what is ahead and what is at stake.

In this passage, early in Jesus' ministry He withdraws by Himself, Jesus, the word incarnate, communing with the Father preparing to head out to the surrounding villages to preach, to tell the good news for the day and for eternity.

No matter what you may be facing today, tomorrow or the next day, take some time in the early morning, beyond the radio or TV news, seek God and let Him speak to you through His word, to open our eyes to see His majesty and then go out in the power of His grace.

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

Word of God speak

Would you pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That you're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In your holiness

Mark 1:35-39 The Message (MSG)

The Leper

35-37 While it was still night, way before dawn, he got up and went out to a secluded spot and prayed. Simon and those with him went looking for him. They found him and said, "Everybody's looking for you."

38-39 Jesus said, "Let's go to the rest of the villages so I can preach there also. This is why I've come." He went to their meeting places all through Galilee, preaching and throwing out the demons.
