Verse of the Day 5/7

Verse of the Day 5/7

2 Chronicles 16:9
English Standard Version

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless[a] toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars."

Yesterday we considered some of the "worldviews" in our society.  More and more people seem to be turning to the "there is no God" mentality and that star stuff, matter is all there is.  Everything that is is "in the box" as it were and there are no outside influences.  Basically, with this belief we all fend for ourselves with no hope beyond the grave, but also none of God's help in the meantime.

I read today's verses this morning and it struck me how blessed we are to know and acknowledge that there is One God, Creator over all that is.  Not only that, He is not just sitting back and observing what He has created, He is active, He is looking to give "strong support" for those who seek Him.  Ignoring Him will only lead to conflict.  Why do you think there is so much conflict in the world today.

Has God gotten your attention today?  His Word, His creation calls out offering strong support.  May we willing to acknowledge Him and receive it today.

  1. Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
    Praise Him, all creatures here below;
    Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host;
    Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

John Piper writes, "He's the great worker. He's the one with broad, burden-bearing shoulders. He's the strong one. And he is looking for ways to show it. This is what differentiates God from the so-called gods of the world: he works for us. Isaiah 64:4, "From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you [in other words this is his uniqueness], who acts for those who wait for him."

Aren't you thankful that we aren't just "stardust"?

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

2 Chronicles 16:7-10
English Standard Version

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because you relied on the king of Syria, and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Syria has escaped you. Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, he gave them into your hand. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless[a]

 toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars." 10 Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the stocks in prison, for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa inflicted cruelties upon some of the people at the same time.
