Verse of the Day 1/12

Verse of the Day 1/12

Matthew 7:7-8
New Living Translation

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

I don't often use the New Living Translation for my posts, but in the case of Matthew 7:7 it does a good job of getting the point across. In each use of ask; seek; knock; the tense of the verb is the perfect tense, it is not only for the present but the future, it doesn't expire.  So the though ot "keep" asking, seeking, knocking is accurate.

Matthew 6:8 states that "your Father knows what you need before you ask Him", if He knows this, why do we need to ask?  Because in asking we are admitting that He is in control, we submit to Him and trust in Him to provide what we need. When the prayers are answered we can also praise Him for the answer to prayer.

The Lord does not grow tired of hearing our requests so keep on asking, keep on seeking and keep on asking.  In doing so you will be obeying His call.  There is a progression.  The repeated asking requires that we persevere and so does continuous seeking.  Persistent knocking shows and intense desire to have the door opened, and as verse 8 says, "the door will be opened" in His time. We need to just keep trusting.

When you pray today, have this attitude:

I Just Keep Trusting My Lord
As I Walk A Long
I Just Keep Trusting My Lord
And He Gives A Song
Though The Storm Clouds Darken The Sky
O'er The Heavenly Trail
I Just Keep Trusting My Lord,
He Will Never Fail.

He's A Faithful Friend, Such A Faithful Friend
I Can Count On Him To The Very End
Though The Storm Clouds Darken The Sky
O'er The Heavenly Trail
I Just Keep Trusting My Lord,
He Will Never Fail.

Blessings,
Mike

Matthew 7:7-11
New International Version

Ask, Seek, Knock

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
