Verse of the Day 3/31

Verse of the Day 3/31

Psalm 56:3-4
English Standard Version

When I am afraid,
    I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
    in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
    What can flesh do to me?

Today's verses came up in my daily reader in the Psalms.  Many of you are probably like me in this sense, I tend to worry too much, at least more than I need to.  I know many verses and passages that tell me not to including Psalm 37 which repeatedly says "fret not".  The key to being able to putting worry aside is to trust, not blindly or just wishful thinking but reading; knowing; believing and trusting in God's Word and put it into action,

Reading these verses brought to mind a hymn written from Psalm 119:105 which says "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path".  What reminded me of the song was not these words but the refrain:

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

Refrain:
When I feel afraid, think I've lost my way
Still You're there right beside me
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near
Please be near me to the end

I will not forget your love for me
And yet my heart forever is wandering
Jesus be my guide, hold me to Your side
And I will love You to the end

We can have that faith knowing that He is near, right there beside us.  Better yet, the Holy Spirit is in us, guiding us if we will allow Him to.  Read the Psalm below to the end which reads in verse 13 "that I may walk before God in the light of life."  I'm guessing that another hymn may just come to mind.  You choose.  Sing it in praise to God.  Let Him lead you today.

Blessings,
Mike

Psalm 56
English Standard Version

In God I Trust

To the choirmaster: according to The Dove on Far-off Terebinths. A Miktam[a] of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.

56 Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
    all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long,
    for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid,
    I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
    in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
    What can flesh do to me?

All day long they injure my cause;[b]
    all their thoughts are against me for evil.
They stir up strife, they lurk;
    they watch my steps,
    as they have waited for my life.
For their crime will they escape?
    In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!

You have kept count of my tossings;[c]
    put my tears in your bottle.
    Are they not in your book?
Then my enemies will turn back
    in the day when I call.
    This I know, that[d] God is for me.
10 In God, whose word I praise,
    in the Lord, whose word I praise,
11 in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
    What can man do to me?

12 I must perform my vows to you, O God;
    I will render thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered my soul from death,
    yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God
    in the light of life.
