Verse of the Day 3/9

Verse of the Day 3/9

Isaiah 64:3-4
English Standard Version

When you did awesome things that we did not look for,
    you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
From of old no one has heard
    or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
    who acts for those who wait for him.

I'm sure that all of us have explerienced an unforeseen, perhaps unprayed for blessing from the Lord.  We've also had things that we continually prayed for were answered seemingly out of the blue, but we knew were tied directly to those prayers.  The key is to be walking with the Lord, to follow Him, to be in His word, to be in prayer and to be looking, actively, not passively waiting for His answers.

Andrew Murray writes, "We must desire and believe, we must ask and expect, that God will do unlooked-for things. We must set our faith on a God of whom men do not know what He has prepared for them who wait for Him. The wonder-doing God, who can surpass all our expectations, must be the God of our confidence."

We serve a wonder working God.  We have access to Him because of the wonder working power of Jesus and His blood that was shed for us that we might have His Spirit working in us.

  1. Would you be free from the burden of sin?
    There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
    Would you o'er evil a victory win?
    There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.
    • Refrain:
      There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
      In the blood of the Lamb;
      There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
      In the precious blood of the Lamb.
  2. Would you be free from your passion and pride?
    There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
    Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
    There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

That power is available to us. Ask for it. Wait for it, prepare for it.  It allows you to say "come Lord Jesus, come".

Blessings,

Mike

Isaiah 64:1-4
English Standard Version

64 Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down,
    that the mountains might quake at your presence—
[a]

 as when fire kindles brushwood
    and the fire causes water to boil—
to make your name known to your adversaries,
    and that the nations might tremble at your presence!
When you did awesome things that we did not look for,
    you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
From of old no one has heard
    or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
    who acts for those who wait for him.
