Verse of the Day 12/6

Verse of the Day 12/6

1 Peter 1:24-25
English Standard Version

24 for

"All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
    and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever."

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

Previously in 1 Peter we had considered how we are to "prepare our minds for action" by spending time in His Word, prayer, study and meditttion, to train ourselves in right living.  Growing and maturing in our Christian lives.  This is not to be a temporary thing or something that comes and goes for "seasons.

Right now, it is approaching winter here in NC. Most of the leaves are off of the trees and the grass on the golf course fairways is no longer green. It is dormant, not growing and quite frankly it is not pretty.  Our spiritual lives don't have to be like the barren trees or brown grassed fairways.  His Word remaiins vibrant and causes growth through all seasons. We have to do our part and stay with it.

As we study and memorize the Word, we are doing something that will remain forever.  There is nothing earthly that won't rust, fade or be left behind.  No matter what they say, diamonds won't last forever.  But God's Word has and will.  We will carry it with us into eternity and learn and expand our knowledge even more.  This is good new for those who put their time in God's Word, proclaim it, teach it and preach it.

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

1 Peter 1:20-25
English Standard Version

20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for

"All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
    and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever."

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
