Verse of the Day 11/3

Through the Bible - Jeremiah 39-41, Hebrews 3:1 - 4:13

Good morning,
Its fun to play pick up games of softball, football or basketball.  Generally, you don't head into a game of recreational sports with much of an agenda or game plan.  With pro sports it is quite different.  You have your game plan, coaches study the opposing team, juggle starting line ups and batting orders to match the opponent.

When I was a little kid, I had a neighbor friend that once said "I'm going home to watch the World Serious".  It sounded pretty funny at the time, but moving forward to now, you can see that it is pretty serious business.

The Christian life is no pick up game either.  If you've been playing that way, you need a wake up call.

Ephesians 5:14 (Amplified Bible)  Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.

Its time to follow Christ.  Its time to follow Christ with purpose, let His light shine upon you with His plan.
For today's verses we'll go to then next couple of verses in Ephesians 5:

Ephesians 5:15-16 (Amplified Bible)  Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

16Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil

Use the time to make the most of every opportunity, for Christ.  The time given to us is a time to be used.  The Greek word used here is 'kairos' which means time as moments of opportunity, rather than time that simply flows past.  Think of the concept of drifting from yesterday.  That is heading into the day, each day without any thought or plan.  To make the most of an opportunity, we need preparation, coaching.
Take the time to let God coach and guide you through His Word and prayer through the power of the Holy Spirit in us.
Read the short passage below.  How will it help you prepare for the day?

The NKJV says "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,",   To walk circumspectly means to walk with your eyes open to everything, being aware of every opportunity that is there before you, ready to do His will.
Blessings,
Mike

Living by the Spirit's Power
Ephesians 5:15-20  So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
