Verse of the Day 11/5

Through the Bible - Jeremiah 44-45, Hebrews 5:11-6:12

Good morning,
I received word yesterday that a pastor from my childhood, Pastor Ron Myers had passed away.  My prayers for comfort go out to the family and friends while remembering his service to the Lord in whose presence he will live eternally.

Today's New Testament reading is from Hebrews 6, we'll go there for today's verse.

Hebrews 6:10-11 (Amplified Bible) For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name's sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.

11But we do [strongly and earnestly] desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity [all the way through] in realizing and enjoying the full assurance and development of [your] hope until the end,

In my devotions this morning I was in 2 Kings 4 where the Lord, through Elisha, raised the son of the Shunammite woman.  Elisha's servant met her as she was on her way to meet the prophet and tell him of her sons death.  Elisha's servant was sent to meet her.

2 Kings 4:26 (Amplified Bible) Run to meet her and say, Is it well with you? Well with your husband? Well with the child? And she answered, It is well.

In spite of the situation she was able to say "it is well".  She had seen what God had done through Elisha in the past and trusted the future outcome.  Her son was raised and restored.

As Christians today, we can have that same confidence, that soul peace,  in death or in illness if we truly believe that Jesus arose from the dead and will raise those who put their faith and trust in Him.  We too can say, "it is well".

May you realize and enjoy the full assurance and development of your hope until the end.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
In Christ,
Mike

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  NIV

Hebrews 6:9-12 (New Living Translation) We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation. 10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. 11 Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. 12 Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and endurance.
