Verse of the Day 8/3

Verse of the Day 8/3
Psalm 145:18-19 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them. English Standard Version (ESV)
I had another verse in mind for today's post, but as I was finishing my Bible reading this morning in Psalm 145, these verses reminded me of what we've been considering for the past couple of days. We've read how Jesus was near the disciples in the boat; his presence was with David in the cave; His presence was with Jacob in the fields. I also think of Daniel in the lion's den, God was with him there too. They all called on Him, sought Him in one way or another.
Today's verses remind us that "the Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth". Calling on him in truth is with proper motives, with an open heart a malleable heart; one that is willing to change according to how God leads.
He also "hears"those cries. They don't fall on deaf ears. He saves, He delivers and fulfills the desires of those who draw near. Those desires and their fulfilling may not always or often be consciously known to us ahead of time, but when they are realised as a deep longing of the hear.
There's within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low:
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
in all of life's ebb and flow.
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
Though sometimes he leads through waters deep,
trials fall across the way,
though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
see his footprints all the way.
Feasting on the riches of his grace,
resting neath his sheltering wing,
always looking on his smiling face,
that is why I shout and sing.
(Refrain)
Blessings,
Mike
Psalm 145:13-21 New Living Translation (NLT)
13 For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
You rule throughout all generations.
The Lord always keeps his promises;
he is gracious in all he does.[a]
14 The Lord helps the fallen
and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
15 The eyes of all look to you in hope;
you give them their food as they need it.
16 When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.
18 The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He grants the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
20 The Lord protects all those who love him,
but he destroys the wicked.
21 I will praise the Lord,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.
