Verse of the Day 10/17

Verse of the Day 10/17

Galatians 6:7-8 Don't be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he'll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. The Message (MSG)

I'm sure that we have all heard or have all read the statement in verse 7 of the New King James Version below "whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." You most likely heard the secular version of this "garbage in garbage out." The verses are in keeping with what we've been considering over the past few days of "wavering between two opinions" and walking by the Spirit versus living by the flesh.

A good indicator of that may begin with how much of God's Word are we taking in day by day or what do we pick up to start the day? Pastor Greg Laurie writes, "Every day, from the moment you get up until the time you go to bed, you're either sowing to the Spirit or sowing to the flesh. You can start your day by checking your social media accounts, or you can put first things first and let God speak to you through His Word. " He has also written , "It has been said, "Sow a thought; reap an act. Sow an act; reap a character. Sow a character; reap a destiny." It starts with a thought, but it can lead to a destiny. The Devil knows that if he can get us to think about something, to consider something, then he almost has us."

Along with monitoring what we are taking in, we should be monitoring, being aware of what we are putting out. May God's Spirit, through His Word be achieving growth in you that results and "harvest a crop of real life, eternal life."

Blessings,

Mike

Galatians 6:7-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
