Verse of the Day 7/5

Through the Bible - Deuteronomy 25-27, Acts 6

Good morning,

We ended yesterday's devotional with the song "Through it All" which spoke of learning to trust in God and learning to depend upon His Word.  There will be many times, perhaps even seasons in our lives when this is no easy matter.  But we are called to press on. committing our way to the Lord that He will see you through.

For today's verse we'll go to Psalm 37 which calls us to commit and trust in the Lord.

Ps 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
NKJV
I read the following quote from A.W. Tozer in Ray Ortlund's blog and thought that it tied in well with what we considered yesterday.

"Ransomed men need no longer pause in fear to enter the Holy of Holies.  God wills that we should push on into His Presence and live our whole life there.  This is to be known to us in conscious experience.  It is more than a doctrine to be held, it is a life to be enjoyed every moment of every day."

A. W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God (London, 1967), pages 36-37.

Tozer speaks of "pushing on into His Presence and living our whole life there".  That is what committing your way to the Lord is about.  It is a conscious decision applied day by day and it is a life to be enjoyed.  It is knowing whom you've believed.

I Know Whom I Have Believed

I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.

Refrain
But I know Whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day.
In Christ,
Mike

Ps 37:1-7

37 Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.

6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
NKJV
