Verse of the Day 11/25

Psalm 8:3  When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?  English Standard Version (ESV)

I love these verses and the thought of them always brings me back to EEFC and the choir back there singing "The Majesty and Glory of Your Name".  It is a song of wonder and awe at God and His creation which is for His glory.  The second part of this psalm reveals that He is mindful of us, thinks much of us and has given us so much.

In church this morning, one of the lines of the first chorus we sang stated "the earth is Yours".  We can and should appreciate the beauty and majesty of His creation but realize that it is His and He is sovereign and in control over it.  The next song that we sang was "What Can I Do".  Here are the first stanza and chorus.  As you read the words and think of the words of the psalm, may you praise God for His, majesty, glory in Him and glory in His gifts, especially the gift of His Son that we will be celebrating in the coming weeks and month.

When I see the beauty of a sunset's glory,
Amazing artistry across the evening sky
When I feel the mystery of a distant galaxy
It awes and humbles me to be loved
By a God so high
[
Chorus:
What can I do but thank You,
What can I do but give my life to You
Hallelujah, hallelujah
What can I do but praise You,
Everyday make everything I do a hallelujah
A hallelujah, hallelujah

In Christ,
Mike

Psalm 8  English Standard Version (ESV)
How Majestic Is Your Name

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David.

8 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2     Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
