Verse of the Day 2/8

Matthew 6:33  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.   Amplified Bible (AMP)

In yesterday's verse Jesus told everyone that you cannot have two masters.  The preceding verse in today's passage tell of those who "wish for and crave and diligently seek " (AMP) fine clothes,, fine food, and riches, their minds are focused, even consumed with these things.  If you know someone like this you probably have seen that it doesn't lead to happiness but to discontentment, never being satisfied, always needing more.  Instead we are to aim at and strive for "His kingdom" which is his rule, his way of doing things being concerned about doing the right thing and being in right standing with him.

Jesus tells us if we seek Him in this way, he'll take care of providing the other things for our enjoyment, without the stress and anxiety of worrying about how we'll get them.  It's not that the other things will take care of themselves, a common thought, but that he'll see to it that they're taken care of, they will be added to you, given to you.  Big difference.

What are the things that are causing us worry and anxiety today?  Don't let these things dominate you.  There are enough troubles for each and every day.  Daily we need to seek Him, aim at His way of doing and being right and cast those worries, those burdens on Him, for "He cares for you".

In Christ,
Mike

Matthew 6:31-34 New Living Translation (NLT)
31 "So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
