Verse of the Day 7/12

Matthew 17:20  He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.  Amplified Bible (AMP)

The "mountains" in our lives can be any number of seemingly insurmountable things that are beyond our control.  Some will choose to give up, give up hope, some will seek every thing that the world suggests or offers, others will pray, seek God and trust in Him.

There are several things to consider if you are facing some kind of mountain today.  Notice it doesn't say because of your great faith but tthat if you have a litte faith, comparing it to one of the smallest seeds, the mustard seed, we can move mountains.  This little faith, that the Amplified Bible refers to as lacking firmly relying trust, is enough for God, He will do the rest.

Reading of the firmly relying trust, I was reminded of the song "A Chasing of the Wind" be Steve Green where he referred to a deep and quiet trust, it is something that is developed when we've seen Him move mountains in the past, having confidence that He has the power to do it again.  Apart from Him we're just chasing or being blown around and away by the wind.

All achievements, all possessions
All with time return to dust
Only God can be our reason
For deep and quiet trust
He will guard us from the dangers
That gladly make men fools
Apart from Him and all His meaning
All things fail as they begin
And hearts deceived
Can only know
A chasing of the wind
A chasing of the wind
Blessings,
Mike

Matthew 17:19-20

The Message (MSG)
19 When the disciples had Jesus off to themselves, they asked, "Why couldn't we throw it out?"
20 "Because you're not yet taking God seriously," said Jesus. "The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, 'Move!' and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn't be able to tackle."
