Verse of the Day 3/6

Verse of the Day 3/6

1 Peter 5:6-7 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. New Living Translation (NLT)

As children grow and mature (hopefully) they will become more independent and less dependent upon their parents. As they move into adulthood they can develop self confidence that they can handle things, make it on their own and solve their problems. But we all know how life goes. Invariably, there will come times when they will face challenges that they can't solve on their own, things for which there is no quick fix, possibly no idea of how things can be turned around.

Today's verses point us where we need to turn, more importantly, how this process begins. Humble yourselves, admit that you need help and go to our Heavenly Father, the Almighty; throw your cares upon Him.

W.A. Criswell writes, "The Lord] loves, and cares, and sympathizes, and understands, and seeks, and saves, and forgives, and helps, and encourages, and walks by our side… taking care of us in life when we can't take care of ourselves."

If you find yourself in a place today where you don't have the answers and are suffering from the anxiety that accompanies the realization that you are in that place, turn to the Lord, the one who "loves, cares, sympathizes, forgives and understands". Rest in His power and wait on the Lord. He will take care of us in life when we can't take care of ourselves and "perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you". (Verse 10 below).

If you are not in that place, perhaps you can be someone that God will use to help take care of someone that cannot take care of themselves today.

Blessings,

Mike

1 Peter 5:6-11 New King James Version (NKJV)

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

8 Be [a]sober, be [b]vigilant; [c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But [d]may the God of all grace, who called [e]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [f]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
