Verse of the Day 2/1

Through the Bible - Exodus 27-28, Matthew 21:33-46

Good morning,
As I had mentioned a couple of days ago, this past week was filled with news and prayer requests of friends and aquaintances that were battling ilness, loss, and other trials.
For today's verse we'll go to a passage in Romans 15 where God is described as the God of patience (v.5), the God of comfort (v.5), the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (v.6), the God of mercy (v.9), and the God of hope (v.13).
Rom 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope..
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  NIV

In this world, where else can we hope to find the patience, comfort, mercy and hope that we desparately need?

We go to the Word of God and the Lord of the Word.  May He speak to your heart and may you convey the message of hope in Christ to those that need it.  Let the Word of God speak.  Following are some of the words to the song "Word of God Speak" by Mercy Me. This past weekend we read in the Psalms that we are to pour our hearts out to Him.  In this song, the songwriter is asking for God to "pour down like rain" a message from His Word.

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

I'll close with the final verse from the passage, a prayer and benediction from Paul with hope.

Rom 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.  NLT

Blessings,
Mike

Rom 15:1-14
15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."   4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus,
6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.   NIV
