Verse of the Day - weekend 2/27

Through the Bible - Numbers 22-25, Mark 8:1 -9:29
Good morning,
In our High School Bible study group we have been going through the "True U" series which has been showing us how more and more, science is actually pointing to a creator.  One of the examples is of the "expanding universe".  Science shows us that the universe is expanding at a controlled speed.  It points to the fact that there was a beginning and the fact that it is expanding at a controlled rate prevents worlds and galaxies from crashing into each other colliding.
If it were not expanding at the precise rate and would rather collapse the stars, planets and galaxies would also collide.
For today's verse we go to one of my favorite Psalms.
Ps 8:3-5
I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way?   (from THE MESSAGE)

I used The Message paraphrasse because of  the words macro and micro that are used.  Macro refers to the bigger picture, the complexities of the vast universe.  The micro takes a look at the fine details of life and to man, down to the DNA and irreduceable complexity of the cell.
The great thing is, that there is a God, a God who loves us and knows the number of the very hairs on our heads and shows His love for us in so many ways if we will take the time to step back take a look at His creation and what He has done, ackowledge Him, and receive Him into our hearts that we may life for Him eteranlly where we will get to know Him, and know more of the majesty and glory of His name.
The Psalm also brings me back to one of the favorite songs that we used to sing in the Elgin Free church choir.  I've posted a link here to the song on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj2NnKv8X5U&feature=related
Let us praise the majesty and glory of His Name this weekend.
Blessings,
Mike

Ps 8:1-9:1
8 O Lord, our Lord,How excellent is Your name in all the earth,Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infantsYou have ordained strength,Because of Your enemies,That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him,And the son of man that You visit him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 All sheep and oxen — Even the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the air,And the fish of the seaThat pass through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,How excellent is Your name in all the earth!   NKJV
