Verse of the Day 2/8

Through the Bible - Exodus 40 - Leviticus 1, Matthew 25:1-30

Good morning,
This past weekend my wife Jean and I attended the wedding of the son of some of our close friends.  The pastor started off his prayers by saying "Living God".  I don't think that I had ever heard a prayer began that way but it is fitting.  We serve a living God, a living Saviour.  Living requires breathing, breath.  He breaths life into us, life into our marriages, our churches and everything around us.

For today's verse we'll go to Genesis 2 where God first "breathed life" into man.
Gen 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.   NKJV
Notice how the verse tells us that God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into him the breath of life.

One of the Hebrew words  for "breathe" is "ruach".  Just pronouncing the word gives you feeling of the meaning of the word.  It starts in the lungs and is breathed out.  God formed man and breathed life into him.  Taking something that was formed but lifeless and breathing life into him, almost like CPR..  If you've seen someone revived by mouth to mouth CPR you can even get a more vivid picture.  In that case the person may come back to life and see the person face to face that gave his life back.  In many instances that will be remembered for the rest of that person's life.

Our hearts are dead, lifeless without God.  God calls us, breathes life into us "face to face".  Once we've seen Hiim, felt his work in our hearts and lives we will remain connected to Him, realizing that He has given us life and spiritual life, which carry over into every aspect of our lives, our marriages, children, relationships, and ministries for those that serve Him.

Job 33:4 For the Spirit of God has made me,
and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.  NLT

As you begin your work week, consider the work that God, that Jesus Christ has done in you.  What will you do with the life that He has breathed into you?
Blessings,
Mike

Gen 2:1-8
The Garden of Eden
2 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
4 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

NKJV
