Verse of the Day 7/8

Through the Bible - Job 41-Psalm 1, Acts 16:16-40

Good morning,
Sometimes we feel as if we are on our own in the world and would like to have Jesus with us in person to guide us as He did the disciples.
For today's verse we'll go to John 14 to a verse that was to encourage Christ's followers and help us today in those times.

John 14:16 (Amplified Bible)And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever--

Francis Chan, in his book "Forgotten God', points out that the word for "another" here was to give the disciples and us ulitmate reassurance. "Another Comforter would come.  Jesus said that the Father would give the disciples "another Comforter to be with them forever".  In this case, the Greek word "another" means another that is just like the first (as opposed to another that is of a different sort or kind).  So Jesus was saying that the One who would come would be just like Him."

What difference would it make to you today if you had Jesus walking beside you for help, intercession, strengthening, to stand beside you as and advocate?

As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit as our Comforter.  May we draw upon His power to live our lives today with a joy that never shall depart.

There is joy, joy joy in serving Jesus
Joy that throbs within my heart
Every moment, every hour
As I draw upon His power
There is joy, joy
Joy that never shall depart

Blessings,
Mike

Jesus Promises Another Helper
 John 14:15-18
15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.  NKJV
