Verse of the Day 6/21

Verse of the Day 6/21

Hebrews 13:20-21(ESV)  Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21  equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

I was turning to the book of Hebrews to look up a verse and landed upon the end of the book.  I saw a picture in my Bible of a shepherd standing beside a sheep, the picture was from behind with them gazing forward.

The first Word may get your attention, it got mine.  NOW.  No matter where we are in life, no matter what the circumstances, the God of peace is there for us now,  The same power that raised Jesus from the dead can raise us physically and/or spiritually above the circumstances.  He promises to equip us with "everything good" in order that we may do His will.

The picture of the shepherd and sheep looking forward is significant.  There are many solutions, many paths offered by the world around us, they may seem like the easy way, but in the end will leave us empty.  Jesus points us to a path less travelled, the old path, the sometimes, oftentimes forgotten path of taith and trust in Him.  Look for this path, He may appear to you from far away, reminding you of His faithful love.   May you experience God's peace, His presence as you travel down the path with the Shepherd today.

Jeremiah 31:3 (HCSB)  the Lord appeared to him from far away.
I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.

In Christ,
Mike

Hebrews 13:17-21 English Standard Version (ESV)
17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

18  Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. 19 I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21  equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
