Verse of the Day 6/5

John 16:22 (AMP) So for the present you are also in sorrow (in distress and depressed); but I will see you again and [then] your hearts will rejoice, and no one can take from you your joy (gladness, delight).

The other day I read Ecclesiastes 3 which is known for its theme "for everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven". (v.1).  The verse that struck me was verse 7(ESV)" a time to tear, and a time to sew".
I was reminded of my time in sales to the marine industry.  I called on a marine fabricator in the "off season".  Walking into their shop I saw them taking perfectly good fabric and tearing it into strips.  Why would they do such a thing?  What they were tearing were reinforcements and patches for the boat covers for the upcoming season.  When the season hit full swing, all of the reinforcements would be ready.  The time for making the reinforcements was past, then it would be time to sew.  Quality covers need reinforcement.

Circumstances in our life can bring sorrow and depression to the point where our hearts feel like they are being torn apart.  But with faith in God, these torn pieces can be put together in another season, to reinforce us, to make us stronger, to better face the challenges of a another day another season.  Lives of quality must be reinforced as well.

Think of the season that Jesus was entering.  The disciples would grieve and sorrow over Jesus trial, crucifixion and burial.  But these things were necessary in His plan.  But their sorrow would turn to joy with His resurrection.  That joy could not, would not be taken away.

What season are you in right now?  If it is a time of sorrow, may His Word comfort you and enable you to look forward to the time, the season, when you will be able to rejoice again and experience joy, gladness, delight in Christ.

In Christ,
Mike

John 16:20-24English Standard Version (ESV)
20 Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. 21  When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. 22  So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23  In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
