Verse of the Day 1/7

Verse of the Day 1/7

Ephesians 5:1-2
New King James Version

Walk in Love

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

As I read today's verses in my devotions this morning, I thought of them with the verses and passages that came up in the Bible reading plan for the last few days in both the Old and New Testaments.  The New Testament reading is in Matthew and going through the Sermon on the Mount.  In Matthwe 5 Jesus makes these statements, "when you give"; "when you pray"; and "when you fast".  We also read in the Lord's prayer that we are to forgive.  We are to keep on praying - "ask, seek, knock" (Matthew 7:7).

In the Old Testament we may have been reading in Genesis, where we see God seeking out Adam and Eve after they had sinned.  He asks "where are you?."  He knew very well where they were but He called out to them so that they would respond. How can we imitate that?  Do you know of a friend who you may not seen in church for a while?  How about reaching out to them with a "where have you been, I haven't seen you lately?" It is not to judge them, but it may give someone an opportunity to open up to you.

As you read through the pages of the Bible, let's see how we can be imitators of God. Call on His Spirit to help us do so. Then walk in love.

Spirit of the Living God,
Fall afresh on me,
Spirit of the Living God,
Fall afresh on me.
Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me.
Spirit of the Living God,
Fall afresh on me.

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 5:1-10
New King James Version

Walk in Love

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For [a]this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Walk in Light

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the [b]

Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
