Today's verse comes from the Magnificat, Mary's song. The song was in response to what the angel had told her and how things were progressing prior to Jesus being born. The best was yet to come, yet she could still look back and see that the Mighty One had done great things for her.
As our families get together and spend time with each other this long weekend leading up and through Christmas may we look back, reflect and share how the Mighty One has done great things for us this year. Don't neglect the "small things", they may yet lead to great and wonderful things. Generations will gather, children need to hear what God has done in their parents, grandparents and perhaps great grandparents lives. They will be memories to treasure and pass on. May it help them, may it help all of us to treasure the Mighty One who came to earth as a little helpless baby.
Quite often we think that too many people think that the world revolves around them. In some ways it does, it revolves around all of us. Jesus thought so much about all of us that He came into the world to save sinners, however great they may be. That is what all of history is about. The Bible starts with "in the beginning God". The Bible ends not only with God in His glory, but with Christ returning bringing with Him the redeemed clothed with new clothes, dwelling with God and praising HIm.
