Verse of the Day 1/17

Verse of the Day 1/17

John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him,?????If you??abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.??32??And you shall know the??truth, and??the truth shall make you free.????? New King James Version (NKJV)

?? If you watch two different network news coverage of the same event you may come away wondering how they could be talking about the same event, the reports are totally different.?? How do you discern the truth??? Changing channels is like changing world views.?? The reason for this is that people can look at an event and then try to put their "spin" on it.?? That spin can become so twisted that there is barely a hint of reality.?? What happened to objectivity in the news??? How are we to determine what we are to believe?

Jesus states in today's verses that if we "abide in His word... you shall know the truth".???? Jesus' views are not twisted; they are straight and true and the way that we stay in tune; in accordance with that truth is to dwell in it; make it part of our daily life.?? Doing so will set us free from getting caught up in endless debates that go nowhere.

As we considered yesterday believing is receiving and receiving is believing and we believe in and receive from Jesus as we abide in His Word.

John 8:31-38??English Standard Version (ESV)

The Truth Will Set You Free

31??So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him,?????If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,??32??and you will??know the truth, and the truth??will set you free.?????33??They answered him,?????We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ???You will become free???????

34??Jesus answered them,?????Truly, truly, I say to you,??everyone who practices sin is a slave[a]??to sin.??35??The slave does not remain in the house forever;??the son remains forever.??36??So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.??37??I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet??you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.??38??I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard??from your father.???
