Verse of the Day 1/24

Verse of the Day 1/24

Psalm 12:2-3???? They lie to one another;

they speak with flattering lips and deceptive hearts.
3??May the??Lord??cut off all flattering lips
and the tongue that speaks boastfully.???????? Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Today's verses come from Psalm 12 which was my reading in the Psalms yesterday.?? As I read the verses, sadly, I could not help but think of how well it relates to what we see going on in Congress with the impeachment trial.?? It seems that everything that is said is being done with and agenda in mind.?? It matters not what the real truth is.?? Presumption leads the day and know one shows respect nor thinks that they are responsible for their own words. ?? There are lies being told, people flattering themselves and making every effort to deceive for political gain.?? Love is hardly the motive, most likely the opposite is the case.

Hopefully, as Christians we won't become caught up in these types of actions.?? Instead of resorting to lies and deception, may we speak and seek the truth in love.??

We need to pray for our representatives and for our nation and as Christians, show that there is a better way.

Are we teaching the truth in love
Telling it like it is
While holding pure motives
And showing that we care
Are we teaching the truth in love?????? (Acapella)

Ephesians 4:15 ?? Rather,??speaking the truth in love, we are to??grow up in every way into him who is??the head, into Christ,???????? English Standard Version (ESV)

Read the passage below.?? Verse 1 asks the question, "where are the dependable, principled ones??? They are a vanishing breed."?? May we be of that vanishing breed today.

Psalm 12:1-4??The Passion Translation (TPT)

Song for the New Day

12??For the Pure and Shining One
A song of smiting, sung for the new day by King David[a]
1??Help, Lord! Save us! For godly ones are swiftly disappearing.
Where are the dependable, principled ones?
They???re a vanishing breed!
2??Everyone lies, everyone flatters, and everyone deceives.
Nothing but empty talk, smooth talk, and double-talk.
Where are the truthful?
3???4??I know the Lord will not deal gently with people like that!
You will destroy every proud liar who says, ???We lie all we want.
Our words are our weapons, and we won???t be held accountable.
Who can stop us????
May the Lord cut off their twisted tongues
and seal their lying lips.
May they all be silenced???those who boast and brag with their
high-minded talk about doing whatever they want.
