Verse of the Day 5/13

Hebrews 2:3  So surely we also will be punished if we ignore this great salvation. The Lord himself first told about this salvation, and those who heard him testified it was true.  New Century Version (NCV)

I heard a guest speaker at a business meeting last week refer to the ROI, the return on investment in contrast with what he called the COI, the cost of ignoring the opportunity.  When I heard it, I immediately thought of it in terms of faith.
Jesus had told his followers to "consider the cost" and most often we think in terms of what it will cost us to obey.  What will be our return on investment in following Christ?  The greater cost, the greater consideration is actually what is the cost of ignoring such a great opportunity.

I am sure that we know of some people that are or have been "on the fence" about their faith in Christ.  They'd like to put off the decision for any number of reasons, thinking that they'll have plenty of time, plenty of opportunities to consider it again at a later date.  Jesus also spoke of examples of this line of thinking.  The thing is, not to decide to follow Him is to decide not to, at least for now.  But even now, what are the costs of ignoring such a great opportunity, such a great salvation?  Disappointment, broken relationships, pain and sorrow from any number of things without the hope, without the refuge, the strong tower, the Rock that Christ offers to be in our lives.

If you've been on the fence or know someone that is, remind yourself, remind a friend, that their is a cost of ignoring the opportunity.

In Christ,
Mike

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  NIV

Hebrews 2:2-4

New Living Translation (NLT)

For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.
